Did you know The Lincoln County Historical and Jewish Heritage Museum was originally a synagogue? The building was built in 1896 as the Temple B’Nai Shalom. The congregation donated the the building to the Lincoln County Historical and Genealogical Society to be used as a county history museum.  The museum and exhibition opened on March 11, 2011. The museum features artifacts and history relevant to Lincoln County, a B’nai Sholom Jewish heritage exhibit organized by the Institute of Southern Jewish Life, and rotating monthly exhibits. The museum is open Tuesday, Thursday, and the first Saturday of each month from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm or by appointment.

This is such a unique glimpse into Brookhaven’s history. Stop by and explore the museum for yourself!
