Downtown Jazzed Up Art Walk is THIS SATURDAY, February 20th!

We’re jazzed up about it at the Brookhaven Chamber, can you tell?! In a past year filled with few events, this is going to be a great outdoor, socially-distanced event where you can bring the whole family!

This Saturday, February 20, from 11 am – 4 pm, our Downtown Jazzed Up Art Walk will take place throughout the day, as well as a kids sidewalk chalk art contest, restaurant specials, sidewalk sales, Yoga in the Park, lots of live music, and much more!

Afterwards, from 4 – 6 pm, join us on Storm Avenue for a “Yardi Gras” Drive Thru Parade! We hope to see you there!

Please follow public safety guidelines while in attendance.

Celebrate Mardi Gras and LOCAL with Sweeteez!

If it can be covered with, dipped in, or drizzled in chocolate, you can find it at Sweeteez in downtown Brookhaven. Owner Teegie Hargro got her start selling chocolate covered strawberries as a hobby, and now that hobby has grown into a bakery that features creative and delicious cookies, cakes, cupcakes and flavors of candied apples that only Willy Wonka himself would dream up.

In addition to their normal dessert delights, Sweeteez is serving up all the Mardi Gras deliciousness your taste buds can handle for the next couple of months. Custom whole king cakes in a variety of flavors – like blueberry, cinnamon, raspberry, and cream – are available for purchase, as well as individual slices. There’s also an assortment of chocolate – covered apples decorated in Mardi Gras colors.

Whatever desserts you choose to help get you in the Mardi Gras spirit, Sweeteez is sure to have a thing or two (or more) on the menu to please! After all, we all know Sweeteez calories just don’t count.

Sweeteez is located at 119 W Monticello St., Brookhaven.

Resolve to #SupportLocal in 2021!

Many of us have put away our holiday decorations, unwrapped the last of the Christmas gifts, and willingly said SEE YA 2020 and HELLO 2021 after a year full of not-so-welcome surprises.

As we look towards 2021 with anticipation and hope, many of our neighbors and small business owners in Brookhaven are continuing to work harder than ever to ensure the success – and survival – of their businesses.

Did you know that, according to the small business recovery research that American Express recently conducted, as many as 1 in 4 small business owners nationwide stopped paying themselves a salary in 2020 just to remain open? It’s no doubt in our minds that some of our Brookhaven small businesses may very well have likely done the same.

Just as Brookhaven’s local businesses rose to the challenge in 2020, we have no doubt that they will continue to do so in 2021 – no matter what the year brings! However, they need us. As you are making your new year’s resolutions for 2021, will you resolve to continue intentionally supporting local in 2021? We invite you to follow along on our social media platforms as we spotlight some of the many reasons you can take pride in and enjoy supporting local in 2021 and beyond!
