The Kid’s Zone at the Ole Brook Festival in Brookhaven, MS

The Ole Brook Festival , a tradition since 1974, is Mississippi’s premier family festival in beautiful downtown Brookhaven. It is held every year on the first Friday and Saturday in October. This year the event began with a kick-off on Friday night from 6-10pm. Saturday was a day full of fun, food, and entertainment!

The Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce worked hard at making this year’s event safe and fun for the whole family. The festival included over 200 arts and crafts venders, a kid’s zone with giant inflatable’s, and live entertainment on the main stage throughout the event. Some of the weekend’s headliners included Shaw Furlow, Tony Norton, Mississippi Goodnight, Andi Cotten, Tyler Bridge, and Sam Mooney. Additional stage entertainment included Southern Classic Cloggers, Ryan Rushing, Clementine, Vonda Laird, and students from Mississippi School of the Arts.

The annual Ole Brook Festival Car Show of vintage and antique cars was a hit and awards were presented to participants after lunch. A fun way the community was able to give back during the festival was through the 7th annual 5k breast cancer superhero walk and run that raised funds for MS Girls 4 A Cure. A new feature at this year’s festival was an animal exhibit hosted by Lincoln County’s 4H students. The animal exhibit petting zoo included goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, and baby calves.

The festival is a great way to bring pedestrian traffic to downtown Brookhaven as vendors were set up all the way down Whitworth. This event was truly a great family experience with plenty of activities for kids of all ages. On Saturday, kids got to play on inflatables, kiddie cars, hamster balls, and a trackless train.
